About me

Deondre “aedonis” Grier is an independent artist from Thomson, GA, whose journey has been shaped by resilience, self-discovery, and a deep connection to music. Growing up in a military family, he moved frequently—spending time in Washington (state), El Paso, northern New York, Colorado, and South Carolina. Sports were a major part of his early years, with football and track dominating his high school experience. Though he briefly explored basketball and college, he ultimately realized that his true passion lay elsewhere.

In 2017-2018, Deondre made the choice to start writing music, inspired by his lifelong love for hip-hop, R&B, and gospel. His father’s involvement in hip-hop sparked his early interest, but it wasn’t until he truly listened to the lyrics of Lil Wayne’s “Mirror” that he began to deeply analyze music. Influenced by artists like Lil Wayne, Drake, Ace Hood, Big Sean, King Los, Dave East, Chris Brown, and Trey Songz, he found himself drawn to songs that resonated emotionally—songs that could speak for him when words failed.

After committing to music, life threw some curveballs. Faced with the decision to go to school, work, or join the military, Deondre chose the military—despite knowing school wasn’t for him. The experience taught him discipline, resilience, and gave him tools he didn’t have before. During that time, he was constantly figuring out how music fit into his life. He was always on the move, struggling to dedicate himself fully to music, a battle he still faces. But he’s learned to embrace the journey, recognizing how far he’s come, even when he feels he should be further. Now, he focuses on balancing his time and making the most of every day, knowing that as long as he’s giving his all, he’s moving in his purpose.

Throughout his military service, Deondre continued making music, releasing songs on SoundCloud, and learning the business. After leaving the military, he relocated to Austin, Texas, where he now works full-time while pursuing music, working out, reading, writing, and spending time with family. He once believed he had to follow the same path as other artists, but today, he’s growing more comfortable with who he is and what he stands for.

What started as a dream of fame has evolved into a mission of growth and connection. Now, Deondre creates music not just for himself, but for others who need a voice—just as his favorite artists once did for him. Through his art, he aims to inspire, uplift, and be a role model for those seeking guidance. His journey is about more than just music—it’s about becoming the best version of himself and using his words to make a difference.
