Heyyooooo! My name is Deondre “Aedonis” Grier, and if you’re here, that means you’re either rocking with my music or just curious about my journey. Either way, welcome—I appreciate you taking the time to tap in.
Music has always been a part of my life, but it wasn’t always my main focus. Growing up in a military family, I moved around a lot—Washington (state), El Paso, northern New York, Colorado, South Carolina. Through all the changes, sports became my foundation. Football and track were my thing in high school, and for a while, I thought football was my path. But the truth is, I wasn’t putting in the work needed to take it to the highest level. And when that realization hit, I had to ask myself—what’s next?
That question led me to music. Around 2017-2018, I started writing seriously. I’ve always loved hip-hop and R&B, growing up on gospel, too, but it wasn’t until I really listened to the lyrics in Lil Wayne’s “Mirror” that I understood how powerful music could be. It wasn’t just about the beats anymore—it was about the words, the emotions, the connection. I wanted to create that same feeling for others.
Life threw some curveballs, though. I had to make a decision—school, work, or the military. School wasn’t for me, so I joined the military, which ended up teaching me a lot about myself. It gave me discipline, structure, and a new perspective. But even while serving, music was always on my mind. I was writing, recording, and dropping songs on SoundCloud whenever I could, trying to figure out how to balance everything.
After the military, I moved to Austin, Texas, where I’m now focused on making music, working, staying healthy, and growing into the best version of myself. I used to think I had to follow the same path as other artists, but I’ve learned that my journey is my own. I’m embracing who I am and what I stand for.
This blog is another step in that journey. I want to use it to connect with y’all on a deeper level—share my process, my thoughts, my experiences, and hopefully inspire others along the way. Whether you’re an artist, a dreamer, or just someone looking for real conversations, I hope you find something here that resonates with you.
So let’s kick this off—what song has helped you through tough times?
I’ll give a couple songs that really connect with me that i can go word for word: Kevin Gates - Broken Men & Drake - Away From Home
Drop a comment or hit me up, and let’s talk about it.
